How Apple may depend less on China for its products

NEW DELHI: Tech giant Apple’s supply chain is heavily dependent on China, despite having countries like Brazil and India to manufacture and assemble its products. That dependency may get reduced slightly more if production of some Apple devices sees an expansion in a country like Vietnam.

In latest news, Apple suppliers Goertek and Luxshare wish to expand the production of Apple AirPods in Vietnam. The suppliers are currently seeking financial backing in the range of hundreds of millions of dollars to grow the production, as per a report by Apple Insider. Supplier Goertek has been assembling and manufacturing Apple products like the EarPods and Lightning cables in Vietnam. The company started making Apple AirPods on a trial basis from July.
