Hotstar to offer free streaming of cricket on mobile devices in India like rival JioCinema

NEW DELHI: Walt Dsney’s over-the-top (OTT) service Hotstar will begin offering free-to-view streaming in India of Asia Cup and ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup tournaments being held in late-2023 to all mobile users, following a strategy similar to its rival JioCinema.

“The move to lift the paywall for mobile-only viewers of both, the Asia Cup and the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, is aimed at further democratizing the game of cricket and making it accessible to as many mobile users in India as possible for the duration of the season,” Hotstar said in a statement.
