HMD Global says it takes security and customer privacy seriously
NEW DELHI: HMD Global, the maker of Nokia phones, on Friday said that it takes the security and privacy of its consumers seriously but that there had been a data software glitch with one batch of Nokia handsets that had been fixed last month itself.
The company said that “no personally identifiable information” was shared with any third party. “All affected devices have received this fix and nearly all devices have already installed it,” the company said.
Finland’s data protection ombudsman on Thursday said that he would investigate whether Nokia-branded phones had breached data rules after a report said the handsets sent information to China.
