HMD Global may not launch 2020’s most-expensive Nokia smartphone in India
Just last week, HMD Global launched four Nokia-branded handsets at its online-only event held on March 19. Among these four, three were smartphones — Nokia 8.3 5G, Nokia 5.3 and Nokia 1.3 — and one was a feature phone — Nokia 5310. While India availability is unknown at the moment, it appears that the company doesn’t plan to bring all of them to India.
This is because, among the new phones, Nokia’s India website has listed only Nokia 5.3 smartphone and Nokia 5310 feature phone on its website. It doesn’t show the most-expensive of the lot — Nokia 8.3 5G — or the entry-level Nokia 1.3 leading to the speculation that the company may not launch these handsets in India.
For those unaware, the Nokia 8.3 5G is HMD’s first 5G-enabled device with Nokia branding. It comes powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset and is scheduled to be available globally starting in summer 2020 at a starting price of EUR 599 (Rs 48,100). As for the Nokia 1.3, it is an entry-level handset priced at EUR 95 (approximately Rs 7,600) and comes powered by the Qualcomm QM215 processor.
