Hello, hello… no one ‘listening’ at MTNL end as complaints pile up

Harangued subscribers of MTNL are crossing their fingers in the hope that its imminent merger with BSNL will breathe life into their phones. Dead instruments that have gone silent since weeks, bills that arrive despite not a single call being made, broadband that aspires to connect then gives up — all sound the death knell of a company that once occupied pride of place in the telecom sector.

Hotelier Shashikant Shetty of Andheri East could not agree more with MTNL’s epithet `Mera Telephone Nahin Lagta’. He wrote an anguished tweet to the company in May saying, “My 04 landlines have been dead for years. Andheri East MIDC Exchange says that there was a cable theft and many lines are not working. What should we do?”
