HCLSoftware launches Intel-powered 5G UPF acceleration solution

NEW DELHI: HCLSoftware, a unit of Indian IT and consulting firm HCLTech, has partnered with Intel to launch a 5G User Plane Function (UPF) acceleration solution which it said improves subscriber experience and reduces costs for telecom operators.

HCLSoftware 5G UPF acceleration solution incorporates configurable hardware offloading capabilities for both network Edge and Core deployments. It is powered by Intel’s Agilex 7 FPGA advanced smart NICs (network interface cards)/IPU (infrastructure processing units)/DPU (data processing unit) technologies for wireless core applications, as per a joint statement on Monday.
