HC allows CBI to challenge acquittal of A Raja, others

Holding that there are “contradictions” in the judgment of the trial court which require “deeper examination”, the Delhi High Court on Friday granted the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) leave to appeal to challenge the acquittal of former telecom minister A Raja, K Kanimozhi and 15 other high-profile politicians, businessmen, bureaucrats and others in the 2G spectrum allocation case.

Leave to appeal is a formal permission granted by a court to a party to challenge a decision in a higher court.
