Hackers’ favourite two targets: iPhone and Instagram

With the ever-growing dependence on smartphones and apps, it’s quite logical for cybercriminals and hackers to target them. A new research suggests that the two favourite targets of hackers are the iPhone and Instagram. A study done by Case24 has revealed that iPhone users are 192 times more at risk than a Huawei phone user when it comes to being hacked. In fact, iPhones in the US have been hacked or attempted to be hacked far more than any other smartphone brand. The study reveals that the top 6 most hacked brands in the US are iPhone, Samsung, LG, Sony, Nokia and Huawei. 48,010 iPhones have been targeted whereas 3,100 Samsung phones have been targeted.
When it comes to apps, it’s Facebook-owned Instagram that has been targeted the most. Instagram has been targeted 66,960 times in the US, followed by Snapchat (57,740). WhatsApp, YouTube, Twitter, Messenger, Gmail, Facebook are also among the most hacked apps in the US.
According to a report by Phonearena, the research methodology was as follows, “When investigating the number of times people searched how to hack different phone brands, the results show a whopping difference between the brand in the first place and the other brands.
