Govt to work towards advancing 5G in collaboration with industry: Manoj Sinha
Telecom minister Manoj Sinha on Thursday said that the government is playing a crucial role and making efforts towards proliferating 5G across the country and will continue to do so in collaboration with industry players.
Highlighting the ‘sabka saath, sabka vikaas’ ideology (development for all with support from all), Sinha said, “India has become the largest consumer of mobile data today and to further advance efforts in this direction, the government will ensure that infrastructure is available for all service providers on non-discriminatory basis.”
The telecom minister further talked about the National Digital Communications Policy and how the government has the vision of its smooth and efficient implementation.
“Digitization is a key driver of global economy and the government has taken initiatives to make India a leader in this space,” Sinha said. He further highlighted that in the last few years, telecom towers have more than doubled in the country.
Sinha said that by allowing spectrum trading and sharing, the cost of execution for telecom operators has been reduced.
The government, in order to accelerate fibre deployment, is also currently working on setting up of the National Fibre Authority or NFA as envisaged in the new National Digital Communications Policy 2018.
