Govt to seek applications under PLI scheme to attract more electronics component makers
New Delhi: The government is set to seek a second round of applications next month under the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme, specially directed to attract electronics component makers, for sops worth Rs 2,000 crore over five years, and is actively engaged with key suppliers of Apple iPhone-makers—Foxconn, Wistron, Pegatron— and Samsung for participation.
In this second round of PLI, which comes within four months of its launch, over 30 domestic and global companies across 10 component categories may get approval for receiving target-based rewards over five years, senior industry and government officials told ET. The financial outlay of Rs 2,000 crore is part of the already allocated PLI budget of Rs 40,951 crore, and hence won’t need Cabinet approval.
