Govt should examine security issues around global apps as well: Hike founder

Mumbai : The Indian government should look into issues around data security of global apps like it did for the Chinese ones, Kavin Bharti Mittal, founder of local social media platform Hike, said, adding that just banning them would mean India remains an open market for likes of Facebook and Instagram to come and grab customers, undermining home-grown entrepreneurs.

“It is only Chinese apps that have been banned and the Facebook schools etc are in the market. As a matter of fact, their user bases are much, much bigger than Chinese apps in this country. So, India is still very much an open market just apart from China,” Mittal told ET.
