Govt lays out new guidelines for surrender of spectrum

New Delhi: The government has permitted surrender of spectrum acquired by telcos in the upcoming 5G auction after a period of 10 years from the date of acquisition, the Department of Telecom notified via new guidelines on Wednesday.

While there will be no refund of payments made towards the acquisition of spectrum, the government has notified that no future installments on the surrendered spectrum will be required to be paid after the date of surrender.
