Government will not encourage monopoly: Telecom minister
NEW DELHI: The Narendra Modi-led government will not encourage any sectoral monopoly and ensure fair competition as well as take steps in the direction of ease of doing business, Minister for Communications, Ravi Shankar Prasad Saturday said.
“Government will ensure fair competition and will not encourage any monopoly, will do its best for ease of doing business,” Prasad said, after holding 90-minute long closed-door discussions with the top executives of incumbent telcos.
Those attended the meeting includes chief executive of Vodafone Idea Balesh Sharma, Bharti Airtel’s Gopal Vittal, Reliance Jio’s director Mahendra Nahata and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited’s (BSNL) chairman PK Purwar.
