Government seeks to play the role of a facilitator to help the M&E industry grow: I&B Secretary

MUMBAI: The Indian government wants to play the role of a facilitator to help the media and entertainment (M&E) industry grow in the country, said Apit Khare, secretary, ministry of information and broadcasting (MIB) on Wednesday during his keynote at the CII Big Picture Summit.

Addressing the concerns raised by the industry regarding the latest move of the government, wherein MIB was given the charge of the online content also, which fuelled speculations that the government will now regulate online content, Khare said that it was to bring semblance to the “online and offline media content”.
