Government losing Rs 800 crore annually in tax collection from top OTT players: Telecom group

NEW DELHI: The government is losing nearly Rs 800 crore every year following a non-regulatory regime to rein in large traffic generators or over-the-top biggies, a telco group said.

“We are telling the government that on account of about Rs 10,000-crore revenue, you are losing around Rs 800 crores in AGR dues, direct and indirect taxes such as goods and service tax (GST) from large traffic generators,” the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) director general SP Kochhar told ETTelecom.
