Google rolling out live subtitles for conversations on Duo app
Google has begun rolling out a new feature for its messaging app Duo whereby users will find it easier to figure out audio and voice messages even if they are in noisy surroundings. In a tweet, Google revealed that users can now find live captions for messages sent on the app.
Real-time transcription is still not possible, but is not ruled out for future versions. In its present avatar, the app can be especially useful for those who are deaf or hard-of-hearing.
According to the tech website Android Police, Google has been working on the feature since February. It quotes Jane Manchun Wong, a Hong Kong-based tech expert, who discovered a toggle bar in the Message Settings marked “Captions for messages.”
