Google pay launches Nearby stores in 35 Indian cities

- Google Pay has launched a dedicated section of Nearby Stores, which allows customers to find grocery stores in the neighbourhood. The service is now available in 35 Indian cities.
- Merchants listed on the App can now indicate their business hours and provide information regarding measures taken to maintain social distancing inside the store and stock availability of essential goods.
- For cities like Mumbai, where the lockdown is still applicable in many areas, additional information about containment status (Red, Green or Orange) of store’s location will also be displayed.
- Google also facilitated Pay users across India to book and pay for their cooking gas cylinders from the vendors namely HP Gas, Bharat Petroleum or Indane Gas.
- The 35 cities where Nearby Stores are now operational include Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Varanasi, Lucknow, Vishakapatnam, Kolkatta, Patna, Indore and Bhuwaneshwar.
