Google paid Apple a cool $9.46 billion in 2018. Here’s why

Millions of characters and hundreds of keywords have been spent on how the iPhone is not having the best of the year. However, little has been spoken about the areas where Apple continues to dominate and grow. One such area is its Services business which has been showing handsome growth. One of the contributor to the growth in Apple’s Services business is none other than one of its rival: Google.

According to a report by CultofMac – that quotes a Goldman Sachs analyst – Google paid Apple $9.46 billion for something called Traffic Acquisition Cost (TAC). This is part of its advertising costs which Google incurs to ensure that it remains the default search engine Apple’s Safari browser.
