Google, Meta and other tech companies are forming a team, here’s why

Tech giants including Alphabet’s Google, Facebook parent Meta and Qualcomm have teamed up to push for open digital ecosystems. The group was formed in response to new tech rules by the European Commission that make it mandatory for companies to offer users a choice to use the apps and platforms of their liking.

The group, called Coalition for Open Digital Ecosystems (CODE), said it wants to promote more open platforms and systems to boost growth and innovation in Europe. The move may also take the edge of possible future legislation, news agency Reuters reported.44
