Google may add Soli chip to the Pixel Watch to read hand gesture

Google has been gearing to launch the Pixel Watch for quite some time now. With the acquisition of intellectual property from Fossil for $40 million and taking over Fitbit for $2.1 billion, Google may finally launch the Pixel Watch sometime soon.
Interestingly, whenever the Pixel Watch actually launches, Google may look at adding Project Soli to it. Remember Soli? The core reason as to why Google could not launch the Pixel 4 phones in India. To recall, the Soli radar chipset can get things done without touching the device. For instance, the radar will let the device know that you are nearby and it will automatically unlock itself the moment you pick it up.
As per a report by PatentlyApple, Google may actually look at adding features based on Soli to the Pixel Watch. “Overall, Google’s invention provides for an optical sensor embedded into a watch chassis of a future smartwatch, with an algorithm to sense gestures from movements of the user’s fingers, wrist, and/or arm on the arm that is wearing the watch,” as per the report by PatentlyApple.
