Google is reportedly laying off robots that helped clean the office cafeterias. According to reports, Alphapet, Google’s parent company, has closed its experimental department, Everyday Robots, which had been working on developing and training robots that could clean Google’s cafeterias, among other capabilities. The decision to discontinue the robotic arm is part of Alphabet’s budget cuts in the midst of widespread layoffs in the tech industry. Despite their progress, the robots and their trainers were unable to weather the economic storm.
