The script editor offers users nearly 100 starting points and actions to help them come up with ideas for their automation. For instance, Google provides an example of custom automation where a specific song plays when a designated sensor detects motion or the lights turn on when you arrive home at a particular time. However, users need basic programming skills to use this editor since it uses the YAML data serialisation language for configuration files.

While typically used for configuration files, YAML can be used as a scripting language for defining conditions and actions for smart devices in your home.
