Google has ‘bad news’ for these Pixel owners
Google has stopped rolling out Android security patches starting November for the first series of Google Pixel smartphones. While other Pixel series smartphones received the November 2019 security patch, the first Pixel handsets did not receive the same.
Although Google on its support page does specify that there is no guarantee of the security update of the first Pixel series — that includes both Pixel and Pixel XL — but now that the November patch has landed on other handsets, there is no ambiguity on the the topic anymore. That said, Google also mentioned that there is no guarantee of the Android version updates after October 2018, but Android 10 operating system did come on the original Pixel handsets.
Along with security updates, Google also ended telephone or online support for the Pixel and Pixel XL devices. “Devices get telephone or online support for at least as long as they get security updates. After that, we can’t guarantee continued support.”
