Google explains why it’s collecting personal health data

Health data is extremely personal and it is obvious that most people may not be comfortable sharing their hospital records and other wellness data to private entities like Google. Now, Google has been working on its health care data collection program for quite some time. Dubbed as Project Nightingale, this program was somewhat not talk about much and a recent investigation by WSJ revealed more information about it.
Project Nightingale appears to be the biggest effort yet by a Silicon Valley giant to gain a toehold in the health-care industry through the handling of patients’ medical data, claimed the report by WSJ which said personal health data of millions of Americans are being collected by Google.
A report by Engadget said that Google said that it’s legally collecting data from the hospital chain Ascension under a so-called business associate agreement (BAA), which allows it to share some patient info under current health privacy laws. Now, Google has explained its “Project Nightingale” is more detail after the Congress was not particularly convinced with Google’s intentions.
