Google employees facing a laptop ‘problem’

It has been close to two months since office-goers from all over the world have been forced to work from home. With the whole WFH or work from home culture gathers pace and shows little signs of going away, companies and employees have been facing certain issues. One such company is Google. According to a report by CNBC, the Sundar Pichai-led company has told employees that equipment like laptops are in limited supply. The report also states that Google has cancelled all laptop upgrades that were supposed to happen for its employees.
The CNBC report cites documents that have been shared internally by Google. As per CNBC, one document read, “Remote onboarding is not a scalable process and essential equipment is not readily available in many locations.” The company told its employees that “we are doing our best to get as many laptops as we can, but it’s not currently possible to equip everyone with a laptop.”
Google also said that employees shouldn’t think it is intentional as it is “trying very hard to help as many Googlers as possible in this uncertain time, and understand that because we’re moving so quickly, we may have missed some use cases.”
