Google Chrome now alerts you when your password gets stolen

Several times a year we hear about cases of user passwords being stolen and used somewhere else to access data. Although tech giants are leaving no stone unturned to fix the issue, hackers and malware creators too are getting stronger and are finding new ways to exploit the users’ personal data. In its latest efforts, Google has taken a step to alert users when their passwords have been stolen.
“When you type your credentials into a website, Chrome will now warn you if your username and password have been compromised in a data breach on some site or app. It will suggest that you change them everywhere they were used,” stated AbdelKarim Mardini, senior product manager at Google.
The company introduced the technology powering it, earlier this year in its Password Checkup extension followed by Password Checkup in the Google Account. “For now, we’re gradually rolling this out for everyone signed into Chrome as a part of our Safe Browsing protections,” adds Mardini.
