Google announces AI-powered features for Maps in India
Google on Tuesday announced a slew of new features powered by artificial intelligence (AI) to make Google Maps more helpful, localised and visually immersive for users in India.
“Our goal here has always been to organise information about the real world in a way that is accessible and useful for everyone,” Miriam Karthika Daniel, vice president of Google Maps Experiences, said on Wednesday.
Early next year, the company will roll out Address Descriptor, an India-first innovation to help users find locations more easily. Google has also leveraged machine learning to automatically offer users five landmarks in the vicinity when they drop a pin in Maps to share their location, Daniel said.
