Global smartphone shipments fall to 1.2 bn units in 2022, lowest since 2013: Counterpoint
NEW DELHI: Global smartphone shipments fell 18% year-over-year in Q4 2022 to the lowest level for a holiday quarter since 2013, despite growing marginally at 1% sequentially to 303.9 million units in the December quarter, according to Counterpoint Research.
Shipments for the full year 2022 also declined to 1.2 billion units, the lowest since 2013, it said in a report released Friday. Analysts at the research firm expect the market to remain under pressure until the end of the first half (H1) of 2023, and recover afterward.
