Global 5G smartphone market: Huawei tops, these are the other 4
NEW DELHI: Chinese smartphone maker Huawei has turned out to be the world’s top 5G phone vendor last year. According to research firm Strategy Analytics, Huawei shipped 6.9 million 5G smartphones worldwide in 2019 and has captured 37% market share. The second position in the list is captured by Samsung with 36% market share and the company shipped 6.7 million 5G enabled smartphones.
The research firm highlights that global 5G smartphone shipments reached 19 million units in 2019.
Another Chinese smartphone maker has grabbed the third spot in the list. Vivo has shipped 2 million 5G smartphones worldwide in 2019 capturing 11% of the total market share. Vivo’s 5G smartphone portfolio is heavily focused on China and that remains its primary market for now.
