Gigabit internet now available to about 354 mn people: Viavi

New Delhi: California-based network test and measurement company Viavi Solutions in its research said that the gigabit internet is now available to an estimated 354 million people across 51 countries, accounting for five percent, or one in twenty, of the global population.

If coverage is considered as a percentage of population, Singapore is the global leader with gigabit internet available to 95 percent of its population.

According to the findings gathered from the research, The United States is the global gigabit leader, because of its availability to 68.5 million people, an additional 4 million since August 2018.

In China, 61.5 million people have access to gigabit internet which is equal to 4.5 percent of the country’s population. The data represents a leap of 41 million since August of last year.
