Furnish user data or face action: I&B Min Anurag Thakur to cable operators

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has threatened to cancel the registration of multi-system operators (MSOs) who fail to furnish subscriber information and are not in compliance with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) regulations.

The ministry has advised non-compliant MSOs to comply with the TRAI regulations and also furnish requisite documents by August 15. The MSO registration granted by the MIB mandates adherence to the provisions of the Cable TV Act and compliance with TRAI regulations. The MIB had published a list of noncompliant MSOs on March 23.
