Freemium game on: Hotstar to stream Pro Kabaddi League for free on mobiles

Broadcasting major Disney+ Hotstar on Tuesday announced that it will make available free streaming of the upcoming season of Pro Kabaddi League for all the mobile users in India starting December 2, 2023 as it is the most watched sport in the country after cricket.

“The popularity of Pro Kabaddi League spans across age groups and by making it available to all our audience on Disney+ Hotstar, our aim is to make Kabaddi accessible to all of India and foster a stronger sense of engagement amongst the fans,” said Sajith Sivanandan, the Head of Disney+ Hotstar India.

He further noted that the landscape of sports viewing is evolving, as was witnessed by the response to their free on mobile offering during Asia Cup 2023 and ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

This ad-enabled free streaming of the tenth season of the Pro Kabaddi League, which is set to be conducted in a 12-city caravan format with 12 competing teams, closely follows the success of cricket tournaments on the platform.

The platform had earlier made available free streaming of these cricket events and registered record viewership. Hotstar recorded a peak concurrency of 4.4 crore viewers during the India-South Africa clash. The company expects this to go up as the culmination of the tournament comes closer.
