Foxconn reportedly working on displays for future iPhones that are better than OLEDs
Apple moved to OLED for its iPhones back in 2017 when it launched the iPhone X. At that time the company tapped on the shoulders of its ‘frenemy’ Samsung for display panels. For the newer iPhone XS, XS Max and XR models, the company reportedly had LG onboard as well. But it looks like the ‘fruit-company’ is already thinking about the future and may use Foxconn-made microLEDs for iPhones.
Foxconn, one of the primary iPhone manufacturers for Apple has reportedly started investing more in microLED screens, something that will most likely be used in future iPhones, as per 9to5Mac. So what does this mean for iPhone customers?
This means that if Apple starts using microLED panels for iPhones, you would be able to see content that is more vibrant than OLEDs and with deeper blacks. That’s because microLEDs don’t require backlight as the pixels in them emit their own light like OLED.
