Foxconn building employee hostels near Tamil Nadu plant

Taiwanese contract manufacturer Foxconn is building large hostels that can accommodate up to 60,000 workers near its manufacturing facility off Chennai as it looks to rapidly expand its production capacity for Apple devices in India, people aware of the development told ET.

Brisk construction is underway at the 20-acre plot that will house large hostel blocks as Foxconn looks to expand local manufacturing in response to strong domestic demand for iPhones as well as a surge in exports from India led by the overall diversification of global supply chains away from China.
