Former Google CEO says AI may ‘harm or kill many people’

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has sparked a debate in the technology industry. It has a lot of supporters and many critics, who have warned about the risks the technology poses to humanity. Google’s former CEO Eric Schmidt has once again shared his worries on the explosion of AI technology and its ‘threats’.

While speaking at The Wall Street Journal’s CEO Council Summit in London, Schmidt said that he said he is concerned that AI is an “existential risk.”

“And existential risk is defined as many, many, many, many people harmed or killed,” Schmidt, who served as Google CEO from 2001 to 2011, was quoted as saying.
