FM Auction – III

The first leg of the Phase-III FM radio auctions attracted a huge response and the total gain to the public exchequer is likely to be around Rs 5,000 crore. These include Rs 1,157 crore from the 97 frequencies auctioned under the first batch of Phase III auctions. Other flows estimated are: Rs 1,900-2,000 crore through migration of 266 frequencies to Phase III from Phase II, and Rs 2,000-2,300 crore from licence fees. The licence fee payable is estimated as higher of either 2.5 per cent of auction price or 4 per cent of gross advertisement revenue over the next 15 years.
