Floor tariff must be fixed to provide relief: Telco group

NEW DELHI: Tariff floor pricing must be fixed for at least mobile Internet services to offer relief to telecom operators from the colossal cost burden, a telecom lobby group said.

“Floor prices must be fixed to provide some relief from the immense cost burden. It should be fixed for data only for an interim period, say 2 years, and voice calls/ tariffs can be excluded from this,” SP Kochhar, director-general, Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) in a statement said.

Delhi-based COAI represents Jio, Airtel and Vodafone Idea.
