First Made-in-India semiconductor chip this year: Vaishnaw

GANDHINAGAR: The Micron plant at Sanand in Gujarat will hopefully bring out the first “Made in India” semiconductor chip this year, Union Minister of Communication and Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Thursday at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS).

“I want to congratulate the Micron (Technology) team – their work with passion and speed gives me confidence,” the minister told a session “Semiconductor and Electronics” held under VGGS 2024.

The place for global manufacturers of semiconductors is “Bharat” and Gujarat is a natural choice, he said, attributing it to two major factors.
