FCC’s Pai, Trai’s Vaghela back light touch regulation of telecom industry

NEW DELHI: The telecom regulators of India and the US said the industry needed a light touch regulatory environment to encourage investments and innovation, especially keeping 5G in mind, and added that security of networks is also of critical importance.

“FCC (Federal Communications Commission) has aggressively promoted the 5G deployment through freeing more spectrum for commercial purpose, making it easier to deploy the wireless infrastructure, and modernizing regulations to promote fibre deployments,” outgoing chairman of the US telecom regulator Ajit Pai said during a discussion at the India Mobile Congress on Wednesday.
