Farmers’ protest: High court notice to Centre, Haryana on internet suspension
CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and Haryana high court on Friday issued notice to the Centre and the Haryana government on a plea filed against the suspension of internet services in the state on account of farmers’ agitation.
Both the state and the Centre have been told to file reply on the issue by Monday.
Justice Fatehdeep Singh of the HC has issued the notice after taking cognizance of a petition filed by Sandeep Singh, a resident of Yamunanagar district in Haryana and others. The petition filed through advocate Rajvinder Singh Bains has sought directions to restore the internet services with immediate effect for the residents of Haryana which have been stopped after the Republic Day. Directions have also been sought to give at least seven days advance notice before suspension of these services to the public.
