Fake call centre busted in Moti Nagar, 32 arrested for duping foreigners
The Delhi Police has busted a call centre and arrested 32 people for their alleged involved in duping foreign nationals by posing as Canadian police officials. Police have also seized 35 mobile phones and 55 illegal software programmes along with other equipment from a building in Moti Nagar area of West Delhi after they identified the fraudsters and their illegal operations.
“There was a specific intelligence with the West district police about group of cheats who were posing as Canadian police officials over the phone and had conned foreign nationals on the pretext of saving them from Social Insurance Number (SIN) violations. SIN is a nine-digit number that is required to work in Canada or to have access to government programs and benefits”, a senior police official said.
