Facebook’s photo tagging tech ‘exposed’ during global outage

Facebook witnessed what can be called as one of it’s ‘biggest’ outage around the globe yesterday. As a part of the global outage not only the social media app was down but also it’s sister platforms including Instagram and the popular instant messaging app WhatsApp. Users took to Twitter to complain about it but some users also saw how Facebook’s AI-based photo tagging system works. This showed up due to the outage and images on the website main website that failed to load.
As reported by The Verge, during the outage since the images on the profile or posts were not showing up, some image tags were being shown up instead, something users don’t see ever as they stay hidden for all the images that are uploaded on the platform. In a screenshot shared by the news website the AI-based tags showed how they categories each image.
