Facebook’s answer to Zoom is Messenger Rooms
Video calling apps have taken off like never before and Zoom is one of them that has become the talk of the tech town. Every company has been tweaking its apps to counter Zoom and now Facebook has introduced new features to take on Zoom.
The social media platform announced that it is rolling out new products, including Messenger Room, a tool that will allow 50 people to video call at the same time. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced Facebook’s new features in a live stream today.
Messenger Rooms will be rolled out this week in some countries and expand to the rest of the world in the coming weeks. The room creator will have control over who to add and whether to make it open for all. Users will be able to start a room directly from the Messenger or Facebook app. Facebook said that it has plans to bring the rooms feature to Instagram Direct, WhatsApp and even Portal. It will not be mandatory to have a Facebook account to join Messenger Rooms.
