Facebook made tremendous progress this year in the way consumers and advertisers could express themselves on the platform through new tools and formats like stories, videos and new interactivity ads that enable adverisers to do more, Sandeep Bhushan, director and head of Global Marketing Solutions (GMS), India at the company said in an interview to ET.

Bhushan also said the potential launch of WhatsApp payments will boost financial inclusion and will take away friction from the economy.

“There’s UPI, but payments is still not touching everyone. We think of WhatsApp Payments fundamentally as taking away friction from the economy. If payments are friction free, businesses are better off. You talk to any business, their drop off rate at the payments stage is significant. It will enable businesses to complete their business process, ” he said.
