Facebook accused of discrimination

U.S. officials accused Facebook of discrimination on Thursday for using its targeted advertising to limit who sees postings for certain kinds of housing.

Charges filed by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development said that Facebook “unlawfully discriminates based on race, color, national origin, religion, familial status, sex and disability” by restricting who can view housing ads. “Facebook is discriminating against people based upon… where they live,” said HUD Secretary Ben Carson.
