ETTelecom Interviews: Mavenir’s Sanjay Bakaya on Open RAN 5G deals with Indian telcos, local manufacturing, plans for end-to-end SI

US-based telco software provider Mavenir said it is in discussions with top Indian telecom operators, including cash-strapped Vodafone Idea, for securing Open Radio Access Network (OpenRAN) 5G deals soon. In spite of the initial 5G equipment deployment deals being awarded to Swedish Ericsson and Finnish Nokia, the Richardson, Texas-based company sees the open architecture networks having a future in India.
