#ET5GCongress: Airtel 5G to cover entire urban India by September 2023: Vittal

New Delhi: Bharti Airtel has increased the pace of its 5G rollouts and will now cover the whole of urban India by September 2023, ahead of the earlier timeline of March 2024, its managing director (India and South Asia) Gopal Vittal said Thursday.

“We’re seeing the fastest rollout ever in the history of the world. Airtel is already covering 400 towns and we’re adding about 30 to 40 cities or towns every single day. By June, which is just three months away, we will be in 4000 cities,” Vittal said during the ETTelecom 5G Congress 2023. “We have set a target to be across urban India by March 2024, my sense is we will be there by September 2023.”
