Ericsson, Singtel, Qualcomm achieve 1.6Gbps peak upload speed using 5G mmWave

NEW DELHI: Singtel, Swedish telecom gear maker Ericsson and chipmaker Qualcomm Wednesday claimed an industry-first by achieving a peak upload speed of 1.6Gbps on 5G millimetre wave (mmWave) in an enterprise deployment.

The demonstration involved aggregation of the millimetre waves through four carriers and “balancing the upload and download patterns”, by which Singtel was able to achieve these speeds on its network using a test device powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X65 5G modem-RF system, Ericsson said in a statement.
