Ericsson says Q2 sales in India rise 85% year-over-year
Ericsson, the Swedish telecommunication equipment manufacturer, said second-quarter sales in India grew 85 per cent year-over-year, accelerating from the 29 per cent growth the company saw in the same period last year.
The company also said its India headcount rose to 21,353 at the end of June this year, from 18,495 in the same period last year.
“Sales increased YoY, mainly due to continued mobile broadband investments, driven by growth in mobile data traffic. Global Services sales continued to show a strong development. Sales growth related to mobile broadband deployments in India contributed positively,” the company said in a statement.
Communications technology equipment makers have been investing in India as the country’s telecom providers are expanding their networks to keep pace the huge demand for data and voice services.
India was particularly a bright spot for the company, which saw net sales rise 11 per cent overall to 60.7 billion Swedish krona. Ericsson did not break out the absolute figure for India revenue.
