Ericsson, MediaTek conduct RedCap data, 5G voice calls

NEW DELHI: Swedish telecom gear maker Ericsson and Taiwanese chip company MediaTek have jointly conducted Reduced Capability (RedCap) data and 5G voice calls on both frequency division duplex (FDD) and time division duplex (TDD) spectrum bands.

Ericsson said the tests showed promising speeds and highlighted the potential of its RedCap software to enhance new and existing 5G use cases for devices such as wearables, sensors, and other devices.
